II. Animal Photography Internship

The Animal Photography Internship in Tanzania, organized by Voices for Animal Welfare (VFAW), combines wildlife photography, editing, and visual storytelling to promote animal welfare and conservation advocacy with a professional photographer. This program is designed for aspiring photographers and storytellers who want to use their skills to create impactful campaigns that raise awareness about animal welfare challenges.

Participants will:

  • Work with professional photographers and animal welfare experts.
  • Capture wildlife during safaris and community outreach programs.
  • Develop visual campaigns and photo exhibitions to inspire change.

In addition, participants also serve as volunteers supporting the community. Activities may include:

  • Organizing vaccination campaigns.
  • Engaging with the community to promote awareness of animal welfare through education and advocacy.
  • Assisting with shelter construction and supporting rescued animals.

Please note that these activities may vary.

This program is ideal for:

  • Aspiring photographers, visual storytellers, and animal welfare advocates.
  • Applicants aged 18+ with fluency in English.
  • Must have a rabies vaccination and bring a camera and laptop.

Morning (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM):
  • Hands-on photography training in the field.
  • Capture images of wildlife, animal rescues, and veterinary work.
  • Work closely with experts to refine techniques and skills.
Afternoon (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM):
  • Editing workshops and project development.
  • Prepare photo exhibitions and short documentaries.
  • Review work with mentors for constructive feedback.
Evening:
  • Relax at the lodge or join cultural activities.
Weekends:
  • Safaris to Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
  • Optional excursions like hot springs and cultural tours.

  • Safari Experience: 3-day safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro, including camping and meals.*
  • Airport Transfers: Pick-up and drop-off* at Kilimanjaro or Arusha airports.
  • Minor Excursions: Additional trips in and around Arusha to explore the area*.
  • Daily transportation in a Bajaji (except during week-ends): to and from the internship location and our lodge.
  • NGO Fees: Contributions to support ongoing animal welfare programs, local staff, and operational expenses.

Not Included: Flights, visas, insurance, vaccinations, and personal expenses.

Payment methods

PayPal or Bank Transfer. Payment in 3 installments is possible.

The first installment is a non-refundable deposit of 330 EUR (Half Package) or 700 EUR (Full Package).

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot in the program. This deposit covers administrative and preparatory costs and cannot be refunded under any circumstances. However, if you have travel insurance (mandatory for this program), you may be able to claim this amount back from your insurance provider in case of unforeseen issues.
